Walter N. Kernan, MD is Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Senior Research Scientist at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Kernan’s research has included clinical trials of new therapies for prevention of recurrent stroke (estrogen, thiazolidinediones), cohort studies of prognosis, case-control studies of risk factors, and cross-sectional examinations of quality of care. New projects include observational research on resident training in primary care and clinical trials of stroke primary and secondary prevention.
Walter Kernan, MD
Heather Ferris, MD, PhD is an assistant professor at the University of Virginia and an endocrinologist. She is Co-Director of the Diabetes Cardiovascular Clinic where she treats patients with diabetes and heart disease. She also treats patients over 60 with diabetes in the Geriatric Diabetes Clinic. Dr. Ferris
focuses on improved diabetes and cardiovascular outcomes through lifestyle modification, hypoglycemia prevention by medication modification or continuous glucose monitoring and healthy aging.
Alejandro A. Rabinstein, MD is a professor of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and a practicing stroke neurologist and neurointensivists. He has published extensively on various aspects of acute stroke management and stroke prevention. He is interested in the interface between diabetes and stroke.
